ASTi HLA Compliance Redux
May 10, 2005 –
As a demonstration of its ongoing involvement and support of the High Level Architecture (HLA) simulation standard, ASTi has again received confirmation of Defense Modeling and Simulation Office (DMSO) federate compliance. This latest compliance testing—completed in February, 2005—was performed in support of the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18C Distributed Mission Training (DMT) program.
The F/A-18C DMT program is part of the Navy’s Aviation Simulation Master Plan, which declares all air, land and sea assets train in a “fully integrated, synthetic battlespace.” ASTi has delivered over 40 HLA-compliant audio and communication systems to L-3 Communications and other contractors in service of this training initiative since mid-2003.
HLA was originally developed under the leadership of DMSO to promote reuse and interoperability across a large number of simulations. Unlike many other HLA solutions, ASTi’s Telestra HLA implementation was developed from the ground up to fully exploit the flexibility and interoperability envisioned under DMSO’s HLA standard. ASTi remains actively involved with HLA; the ASTi Radio Communications Federate originally passed DMSO federate compliance tests in 1999.
