Integrated Link between Discrete Digital Controls and Model Builder Toolkit

ASTi's Distributed Digital Interface (DDI) provides direct integration of discrete control circuits such as: switches, pots, relays, LEDs and keypads to ASTi's Model Builder sound modeling software.

Easy Integration

ASTi's Model Builder toolkit includes ready-made software control objects for easy integration of DDI-connected hardware controls to the sound modeling environment.
Connecting controls into a sound model is as easy as pulling a control object from the ASTi software tookit and entering a DDI and RIU hardware address.
ASTi's DDI solution eliminates the need to buy a separate host computer system, install expensive digital interface cards, and develop and maintain your own custom interface software.

Elegant Distributed Interfaces

The DDIs connect to ASTi's Remote Interface Units (RIUs); control signals are distributed between user hardware and ASTi DACS nodes using ASTi's sophisticated Time Division Multiplex (TDM) architecture. You can install a control interface system by simply snapping together standard, modular network cables. This eliminates messy and complex discrete custom wire harnesses leading to centralized PC interface cards. Additionally, ASTi's TDM architecture digitally distributes signals over hundreds of feet, without loss of signal fidelity.

High Connection Density

The DDI is a compact unit with vast interface capability. Each DDI performs the work of several standard PC-based interface cards. DDI interfaces include:
  • Digital Inputs: sense passive switch settings
  • Digital Outputs: control active external circuits (relays, LEDs, logic circuits)
  • Analog Inputs: sense potentiometer settings
  • Keypad Interface: scan and sense keypad matrices
  • Display Interface: send text messages to Smart Displays

High Scalability

System expansion is easy using the DDI. For more connections to user hardware, simply snap another DDI into an RIU. You can connect up to 14 DDI modules to each RIU and up to 14 RIUs on each TDM ring.
